Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Foreman

Wesdome Gold Mines has over 30 years of continuous gold mining in Canada. The company is 100% Canadian with a portfolio of projects in various stages of development. The company’s strategy is to build Canada’s next intermediate gold producer, producing more than 200,000 ounces from two mines in Ontario and Quebec. The Eagle River complex in Wawa, Ontario currently produces gold at the Eagle River underground mine. Wesdome is actively exploring its brownfield asset, the Kiena Complex in Val d’Or, Quebec. The Kiena complex is a fully licensed former mine with a 930 meter shaft and a 2,000 ton per day mill. The Company trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol “WDO”.

Reporting to the Superintendent of Electrical and Instrumentation, the Senior Foreman – Electrical and Instrumentation is responsible for the design, integration, commissioning and maintenance of the electrical and instrumentation of the Wesdome Eagle River mine and mill, PLC/SCADA/DCS systems, industrial control networks (IP-Based wired and wireless), and operational technologies.

Plan, organize, direct and coordinate electrical control/instrumentation maintenance activities at the mine and plant.
Maintenance, configuration and installation of virtual and hardware servers and industrial databases (i.e. SQL).
Continuous improvement and reliability support for mine and plant.
Identify and implement technologies to increase operational efficiency and mine and plant productivity (e.g. RFID tracking, Automine, etc.).
Identify and manage instrumentation and electrical control system improvement projects.
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical standards for instrumentation, electrical and industrial controls and implement industry best practices for the mine and plant.
Supervise, train, supervise instrumentation and electrical personnel in the field of electricity, instrumentation and controls.
Ensure compliance with codes and standards for electrical safety and arc flash/electrocution, confined space entry, working at heights, lockout-tagout, line break permit, hazardous materials, safe use of hand tools, etc.
Implementation of OT/IT systems using industry best practices.
Ensure OT technology and IT projects are delivered using appropriate project management processes and rigor.
Ensure the proper functioning of mechanical and hydraulic systems in collaboration with E&I systems.

Diploma in electrical engineering technologist and instrumentation technician.
Red Seal Certified Industrial Electrician and Instrumentation Technician.
OACETT Electrical technologist specializing in operational mining and milling (OT) technologies.
8.1 SCADA ignition certified with experience.
15-20 years of experience in mining and milling instrumentation, automation, electrical and control systems design, industrial IoT networking, system integration and commissioning, PLC programming /SCADA/DCS (i.e. OPC Servers – Kepware & Matricon, RSView, Factory Talk, Control Logix (Allen Bradley), DeltaV, Ignition/SEEQ, OSI PI).
Experience and knowledge in construction project management.
DeltaV – Implementation 1 and 2 certified.
Experience designing and configuring certified industrial WAN/LAN/VLAN Cat5e/6 and fiber optic networks (i.e. Ethernet IP, DeviceNet, Modbus, Profibus, RIO, DH+, etc.).
Knowledge, configuration and configuration of AC/DC motors and drives.
AutoCAD drawing, engineering and documentation deliverables (electrical and instrumentation).
Ontario Electrical Code and M421 Electrical Knowledge and Implementation.
Interpersonal and relational skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment with people internal and external to the organization.

14 days on / 14 days off
