MASS is seeking a full-time Principal Architect/Project Manager to join our team in Boston, MA. We are a mission-driven design collective that approaches architecture with an interdisciplinary focus on improving people’s lives in measurable ways. We are looking for a talented Senior Architect with over 10 years of experience to join our growing organization. The candidate is expected to work as a lead architect and project manager on a variety of projects primarily in the affordable housing, healthcare and community development portfolio. Candidates should have the ability to manage a project team and lead the technical development of complex projects from conceptual design to construction documents, while providing advice and support to less experienced designers. The ability to use Revit as a primary production and documentation tool is essential for this position. Please see the full list of job requirements below.

Job requirements:

  • Chartered Architect
  • 10 years of related experience in architectural design and projects, including 4+ years of experience in architectural project management, 4+ years of experience in leading technical documentation;
  • Ability to lead a team through all phases of design, particularly experience in producing construction documents and leading/coaching teams of less experienced staff and consultants in the preparation of these documents
  • Experience in managing client and consultant expectations, developing project schedules and budgets, preparing contracts and negotiating proposals
  • Previous experience working in multi-family housing or healthcare, especially Type V or III projects rather than Type 1 mid-rise
  • Advanced understanding of building and accessibility codes, ability to navigate various jurisdictional, zoning and funding requirements
  • Proficiency in Revit as the primary architectural drawing tool is essential; experience with Rhino, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Lumion and/or other software, and ability to work seamlessly across software platforms;
  • Ability to lead interdisciplinary coordination, plan and lead coordination meetings and communicate effectively with sub-consultants;
  • Ability to lead meetings and communicate clearly with a wide group of stakeholders, including colleagues, government agencies, partners/clients and the communities they serve;
  • Demonstrated interest in low carbon design and construction and building performance;
  • Commitment to working in the Boston office and contributing positively to the global office culture;
