Rebar estimating tool seeks to cut costs

ADDA Estimate provides estimates that can be adjusted to various standards, creating the claimed market’s first integrated end-to-end rebar estimating, detailing and analysis suite.

ADDA is an Australian company with offices in the UK, USA and India. Its software was used for the construction of the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station in Somerset. ADDA Construct, an AutoCAD plug-in, was used to create a 3D model to assess building feasibility. This included combining 900 reinforcement designs into a 3D model.

ADDA Founder and Chief Technology Officer Alan Jeffreys said ADDA’s estimate meets a market need for more accurate information sooner.

“Particularly useful in the early stages of a project, ADDA Estimate is simple and quick to use for all team members, giving the project a better idea of rebar needs early on and creating data that can then be fed into subsequent ADDA 2D and 3D modeling.

“Estimating allows us to take any concrete profile and quickly add reinforcement to it, providing diameter and weight to give more accurate estimates. Additionally, and uniquely, users can feed this directly into ADDA Construct, streamlining the 3D detailing workflow.

He continued: “All projects seek to refine costs and reduce waste, and if you can do this more accurately at the estimating and bidding stage, you will have better clarity around projects from the start.”
