Living Roofs Inc is growing rapidly and is hiring a Project Designer to help with various drafting, graphic production and administrative tasks. This position is ideal for a professional who enjoys working on a wide range of tasks from pre-construction drawings and details, to plant procurement and planning, and production of presentation graphics. An ideal candidate for this role should be prepared to adapt to a dynamic schedule that requires excellent organizational and communication skills. For example, some weeks can be filled with design work, while others are filled with factory orders and administrative tasks to support our team during construction. This is a part-time position of 25 to 30 hours / week with the possibility of progressing to a full-time position.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop designs from the initial communication with the client and create formal presentations and documents required for construction
  • Drafting details and shop drawings / submissions
  • Development of green roof planting plans and planting schedules
  • Translate planting plans and schedules into plant distribution plans to assist the installation team
  • Sourcing and management of factory orders and installation schedules
  • Site analysis and project research
  • Communicate and coordinate with project architects and landscape architects
  • Render design drawings in plan, section, elevation and perspective
  • Standardization of existing CAD details

Qualifications:

  • Recent experience working in an architectural, graphic design or landscape office
  • Strong writing and rendering skills
  • Knowledge of plants
  • Excellent AutoCAD, Adobe Suite skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and SketchUp
  • Ability to multitask and work independently AND in a team atmosphere
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a range of responsibilities and tasks
  • A sense of design and attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm for green roofs and green infrastructure
  • Ability to problem solve and pivot quickly due to changing schedules and project demands
