Learn about sewing machines in a free workshop

The Bettendorf Public Library’s design studio houses a myriad of design tools available for public use.

On Tuesday, May 17, the Library will host a workshop intended to present a tool available to creators. Creation Studio Tool Training: Sewing Machines is a limited-size workshop open to participants ages 16 and up. It will cover the basics of using the Studio’s Brother CS6000i sewing machines.

The free event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Registration is required to attend and can be done by visiting here or by calling 563-344-4175. The Bettendorf Public Library’s creative studio is located on the second floor of the library at 2950 Learning Campus Drive in Bettendorf.

The Creation Studio holds open hours for Creators and Explorers to visit and use the Creation Materials. Besides the sewing machines, the studio currently houses computers with Autocad and Adobe Creative Suite, cutting machines and much more.

Participants will learn the basics of the machine while creating a drawstring tote bag to take home. An overview of the operation of the sewing machine is available here. More information about the events of the Creative Studio and the Bettendorf Public Library can be found on the library’s website website or call 563-344-4179.
