Job Title: Intermediate Interior Designer

Job Purpose: The Designer works closely with the Senior Designer and Director to translate their aesthetic vision into client presentations and embody the culture of the studio.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Design:

  • Research and develop furniture plans, custom furniture designs and material diagrams that match the client’s aesthetic, functional goals and budget.

  • Assist senior designers in the design and development of all projects; create drawings, boards, fabric diagrams and anything relevant for client presentations

  • Research and research furniture, fixtures, fabrics, wallpapers and interior finishes within budget and project aesthetics

  • Manage item specifications and construction schedules with accurate product information for all furniture, plumbing, appliances, lighting and finishes

  • Coordinate supplier and installer site visits, workroom tours and in-person meetings to ensure successful project deliverables.

  • Ensure the project file is updated with all item tear sheets, customization notes, specs, and drawings

  • Interface with the project manager to manage the item shipping process (supplier to warehouse), meet project deadlines

Administrative responsibilities:

  • Simultaneously supervises several deadlines, project scopes and aesthetics.

  • Maintain accurate and timely sales order and purchase order price data.

  • Oversee accurate lists of project action items in the studio project management system.

Personnel / human resources responsibilities:

  • Work effectively with junior designers and interns on multiple projects; demonstrate strong communication skills

  • Participate in the training, development and review of junior designers and interns

  • Participate in all initiatives to develop the culture of the studio

Business development:

  • Assist with photo shoot coordination, sourcing, styling and on-site facilitation, as delegated by the lead designer

  • Maintain contacts and relationships with existing suppliers and develop new ones.

  • Attend industry events, trade shows and openings

Customer management:

  • Attend customer meetings

  • Responsible for approving sales order and purchase order documents prior to customer and supplier submission.

  • Manage sales order design and pricing package submission

  • Oversee the planning and coordination of the project installation

  • Oversee precise, on-budget design hours for yourself

  • Maintain and develop professional relationships with customers and suppliers

  • Create solutions and communicate with clients and colleagues in a timely manner and in the appropriate tone of the studio culture.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

  • Diploma in Interior Design

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in interior design

  • Provide high level innovative design concepts

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills including space planning, manual and digital writing

  • Extensive experience in the selection and specification of lighting, furniture, hardware, flooring / window coverings, materials and finishes.

  • Experience in purchasing and budget management

  • Very good knowledge of AutoCAD, Sketchup, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

  • Work under pressure, produce deliverables and meet deadlines

  • Experience in managing design staff within project teams

Rate of pay: Employee, with benefits starting after 1 month. Annual salary according to experience to be determined.

Benefits: 10 days of paid vacation per year and the office is closed between Christmas and New Years; access, with contributions, to company health, dental and vision insurance, 401k with correspondence from the employer, commuter benefits and summer Fridays.

Covid work protocol: Since October 2021, each member of the office works in the office Monday to Thursday and remotely on Friday. The office follows social distancing guidelines, monitoring health conditions and wearing PPE.
