Café Specialty drip coffee maker review: why it’s worth it

I like coffee. And, I love it pretty much in every way: hot or iced, latte or macchiato, dark roast or decaffeinated.

I almost have a friendship bracelet with Starbucks at this point, but a new brew of $ 5 a day adds up quickly. That said, Café’s specialty drip coffee maker makes me feel like a full-fledged barista at home and creates delicious roasts, just the way you like them.

I’m not going to lie, the coffee makers have almost taken over my kitchen counter. First, it’s the Keurig handyman. Then, it’s the Nespresso Vertuo that I love for more solid and frothy cups. Now it’s Café’s. But, if you stick to the specialty drip coffee maker, you won’t need to have one machine for light roasts and one for the more daring.

I’ve made quite a few cups with Café’s specialty drip coffee maker and it’s not just worth buying because of its sleek and aesthetic design. There are so many features at this 10 cup maker that I had to stop between brews to rate them all.

Is the Café Specialty filter coffee maker worth it?

Before we move on to our review, it’s good to get an overview of what to expect from this nifty machine. How it works? What are the mini buttons for? More importantly, how does coffee taste?

While the last question depends on the types of coffee you choose to brew, there are several reasons why the Café Specialty Drip coffee maker stands out – and, in turn, should stay on your counter at all times.

  • It is SCA certified: If you like sustainable and ethical products, you’ll be happy to hear that this one is SCA certified (yes, there is a Specialty Coffee Association). To meet the certification, coffee makers must meet precise and rigorous standards for qualities such as consistency, temperature and time.
  • There is built-in Wi-Fi: This coffee maker pairs with the SmartHQ, Alexa and Google app for Voice-to-Brew orders
  • It brews up to 10 cups: Because it’s a smart coffee maker, the Café remembers and stores your preferred settings (like cup quantity, temperature, brew style) so you can brew a fresh cup in no time.

While I’m not too picky about high-tech specs, the cup customization and brew strength options – gold, light, medium, bold – are well worth it. But, we’re going to get into that now.

Our opinion on the Café Specialty filter coffee maker

The only time I’ve used an overflow coffee maker – or saw one used by my parents, should I say – was on vacation when my family of over 40 is sitting in the dining room. while waiting for their pre-dessert roasts. I am looking for a coffee maker that is easy to use and customizable according to the number of cups I want, and I have found my winner.

As soon as I took the drip coffee maker out of its box, the first thing I found was “elegant”. Seriously, this is the finest, most minimalist kitchen utensil my fingers have ever touched. Not to mention, the chrome decanter handle and keycaps make it a wonderful display piece.

While its setup was a slight learning curve, it’s typical of any new device. I recommend brewing only water – not coffee – when you first take it out of the box to rinse it well.

The first thing you’re going to set up is the time on the coffee machine, which is boujee because I don’t think I’ve ever seen a coffee maker that tells you the time as well. You will set the ideal temperature which you can modify before any new infusion, the preferred strength of the roast and the number of cups you want, from 1 to 10.

The specialty drip coffee maker is also programmed into the “perfect” range of 185-205 degrees Fahrenheit. For reference, I have mine placed in the 200 degree sweet spot.

Now it’s brewing time.

Once your settings are applied as you wish, you will pour the number of cups you choose with the included spoon. One spoon equals one cup of good-tasting coffee. When it’s over, it’ll make a nice little “ding!” And you’ll be ready to remove the carafe from the maker stand and marvel at the divine aroma and steam of your coffee as you pour.

Advantages

While the whole explanation of using the Specialty Drip Coffee Maker is a pro in itself, there are a few notable things worth mentioning. Let’s start with the design alone. Every time my parents took out their old multi-cup coffeemaker, it looked awkward and quirky with our kitchen. With this maker, you won’t even want to take it off your counter.

Personalization makes the machine. Really, it is so nice to have a light brew in the morning, then a bold brew after nights of little sleep. You don’t get the same brew every day with all of its options.

Not to mention, it is also available in stainless steel and matte black to meet your preferences and match your kitchen.

The specialty drip coffee maker Actually made me feel like a barista. I loved using the included spoon to finally use my ground coffee after not having the right equipment to brew it. It’s a nice change from the pop-a-pod lifestyle I’ve grown used to.

The inconvenients

There are not a lot of downsides with this manufacturer. Aside from the slight learning curve, the only criticism to pass on is my dad’s, actually. While we were making our cups he mentioned that it would be nice to have a strip of glass so you can see exactly how much coffee is left in the carafe.

“If you have a few people and start to circulate the carafe, you will have to open the lid and look to see how many are left,” he said. Good point, although it didn’t bother me too much.

But hey, this is a review so you get the real, honest reviews.

The bottom line

Overall, this is one of the most exciting countertop additions in my kitchen. It’s something the whole family can enjoy and it’s really all you need for a cup of heavenly tasting coffee.

If someone you know is a coffee lover, this is a great gift too. I didn’t think I would want another after the two I have, but this is the one that was used every morning.
