Eclipse Theme Designer Preview

Saturday, November 21st, 2009 | videos

I received tons of questions asking about my color scheme in my RobotLegs video and I realized what a pain it is to customize your colors within Eclipse.

So, here’s a little preview of the Eclipse Theme Designer (code-named “Theminator”) that I’m working on. I should have FDT support for AS3 ready sometime next week and then I’ll start working on MXML, FlexBuilder, etc. Once I have something testable, I’ll post it up here and ask for feedback.

  • it's very nice is actually a good post.........

  • The review looks cool.
The theme is really fantastic. Thanks for sharing.

  • Really awesome preview and i really like it,

Hey, how is the Theminator going ? i hope you are still developing it, i would really want to use it.
is it possible to put up an repository of the project somewhere? i'm sure some people would like to help create it (including me)

So far, my plans are to keep this project closed-source.

  • I am also waiting for that project. When is the release of that project?

  • Hi John,
people have been waiting this tool for ages because changing colors in eclipse is not easy at all...you are the man...

Please let me know if you need any help testing it.

    Cheers

  • That is awesome! I cannot wait to try it out.

I really like the idea of this, but I am just wondering...

How will this effect themes for other perspectives/files; like ANT editing, XML editing, Javascript, etc... ?

  • John Lindquist

There are some color values shared across file-types. Those probably won't be addressed in the first release, but you can edit those on your own under Windows->Preferences. I hope to make it a more robust tool for all eclipse colors are it matures.

  • I would love to use this when it's available... I would love to use a theme like this: http://www.monokai.nl/blog/200...

  • Wow!

Awesome plugin. Keep this good work.
    Congrats
